Endnote is the industry standard tool for managing bibliographic records for re-use in term papers, assignments and theses work.
The advantage of using
Endnote when conducting research is two-fold: firstly, it allows you to capture bibliographic references from across a wide variety of sources, including library catalogues and electronic databases such as those found in the library's Arcadia suite of electronic products, and have them stored in the one place for later use.
Secondly, and most importantly,
Endnote is able to receive and store references which may appear in a variety of bibliographic styles in such a way as to allow you to reproduce them later in a consistent bibliographic style or format of your choice.
For example, non-Harvard references can be converted into
Harvard style bibliographic entries to import into your
paper and bibliography.
The
Endnote program also allows bibliographic records to be annotated for personal note taking and customisation.
The University of Melbourne has tested and approved
Endnote versions X02 and 7.
