Borrowing, renewing & placing holds | Endnote | Accessing & using databases |

The Melbourne Business School library provides individual responses to the individual requests of PhD students. The library aims to provide maximum information support to PhD students over the course of their research.

So if you are commencing a PhD program at MBS, welcome to the school. Please make contact with the library staff as soon as possible and let us know how we can best assist you.

Borrowing

Most books and journals in the general collection can be borrowed for 28 days, with renewal options as required.

ILL

If you need a book or article that isn't in one of our collections we will borrow it for you from another library. For more information, see Locating material elsewhere and Interlibrary loan.

Renewing loans and placing holds online

You can check the status of loans, place library items on hold and renew books via the catalogue. Click on Log into your patron record.

Endnote

It is most likely that you will need to use Endnote or another program for your bibliographic referencing. The library also has an extensive list of referencing and citing sources on the website for your use.

Accessing and using online databases

We have a great collection of databases in what we call the Arcadia suite. These are accessible on site at MBS or remotely from your office or elsewhere. As PhD candidates you will also wish to access some of the more specialised databases, such as Web of Science or JSTOR, on the University of Melbourne's SuperSearch service of online resources.

Go to our Guides section for quick step-by-step instructions for accessing and using these resources, or, if you require more in-depth help,  arrange a consultation with the professional staff of the library, who will be happy to help you identify and navigate you through the available information resources.

For further information on relevant databases and how to use them, consult the McLennan information staff directly or via informationsupport@mbs.edu
